NOVATO EV CHARGING SITUATION ---------------------------- The bad news is, the Novato Costco, which used to have SPI and Avcon chargers, removed their chargers during their remodel last year, and at last check were not planning on reinstalling them. This was a convenient shopping place right off of 101. The good news is, Paul Schafer DDS has graciously installed an Avcon, 14-50 and two 5-20 outlets on one 50 amp circuit at his dentist office, a few miles northwest at 896 Sutro, just southwest of the San Marin Drive and Novato Boulevard intersection -- San Marin turns in to Sutro at that point. Chris Jones tested it on May 17th and was able to charge on 14-50 and the 5-20s but tripped the GFCI on the Avcon; this is not the first GFCI he has tripped, so it may be the car's fault. This station is not up on www.evchargernews.com yet, but you can contact Paul via http://www.marinsmiles.com. Thank you Paul for your kind generosity! If you would like to provide public charging at your business, please contact Chris Jones at chris_b_jones@prodigy.net -- there are some Avcon charge heads available for free providing they are made available. And don't forget to plan for the upcoming new standard SAE J1772 being adopted by many major automakers and Tesla. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAE_J1772 for more information. NBEAA MEMBERS IN THE NEWS ------------------------- Peter Oliver made the front page of North Bay Biz magazine, and Brian Hall, Chris Jones, Robb Protheroe and Mark Schiess were also interviewed. See http://www.northbaybiz.com/General_Articles/General_Articles/Driving_Technology_Forward.php for complete text of article. NISSAN UNVEILS "LEAF" EV ------------------------ Some were lucky to see the Nissan EV mule that was based on their Cube platform back in March. Now Nissan has unveiled the "LEAF", which is a prototype of what EAA members and others will be able to order as early production units scheduled to be delivered next fall. See http://evworld.com/news.cfm?newsid=21498 for an EV World article on the unveiling. Contact Dale Miller, San Francisco EAA chapter president, at dalewmiller@gmail.com, if you are interested in ordering one.
